Oh Boys....so close! Kathleen and Michael qualify for 4a State Championships.

The boys team finished just (11 points) short of the fourth team qualifying spot for the state meet.  Michael was the first finisher in 5th (16:13) and was an individual qualifier for the state meet; Grant and Matthew were next with PR's by a second (30&31; 16:58); Josh took 20 seconds off an already good Wendy's time in 44th (17:15 PR); Price was the fifth scoring runner in 66th with a 17 second PR (17:41); and Sam and John finished 102nd & 110th (18:29 & 18:47 PR's?).  

Kathleen paced the girls team with a 3rd place (17:45) and qualified as an individual for the state meet.  The girls team finished 7th in the team competition and the second through fifth runners all bettered PR's, including Mia (61st; 21:21), Catie (62nd: 21:26), Lauren (66th; 21:33), and Anna (70th; 21:37).  Lily and Courtney finished  84th and 87th (22:11 & 22:13).  Full results here.

Boys and Girls Teams bring home another Northwestern Conference Championship

The boys won by a wide margin over  St. Stephens; racing with Hickory was a bit closer in the girls race.  Kathleen was the overall champion by a wide margin in the girls race.  Mia, with an incredible finish after leaving the final wooded section, was able to split the top two Hickory finishers in fourth place. Catie was 7th, Anna was 11th, and Lauren was 12th.  Lily, Courtney, Sage, Amanda, and Addison all finished in the top 25.  The boys were led by Michael with a photo finish 2nd/3rd (officially I guess it was third but it was really too close to tell); followed by Matthew in 5th.  Grant was 6th, Josh was 11th, and Price was 20th to finish the scoring.  Jarrett, Sam, and Aiden also finished in the top 25.  Complete results posted on milesplit  here.

NC Runners Elite Results; Conference Race on Wednesday

The varisty girls placed a respectable 6th in the championship bracket on Saturday.  They were paced by Kathleen with a 2nd place finish, followed with PR's by Mia (21:22) and Catie (21:50).  Michael led the boys with a 11th place finish, followed by Grant and Josh.  Full results here.

Next up conference championships at Freedom on Wednesday.  Pretty much the same teams that appeared at the Caldwell Invitational early in the season. 

NC Runners Elite Saturday

Team travels Saturday to Kernersville for another invitational race.  The state championship meet will also be held on this course.  Race times here.

Wendy's Invitational Champion; season and career PR's all around

The fast course at McAlpine did not disappoint with the season's best times all-around.  Kathleen won going away with the top 4A time (17:33 -1 second off the meet record!) recorded in NC thus far.  Mia was the second Watauga runner across the line in 128th (21:25), followed by Sophie (140th, 21:39), Anna (142th, 21:41), Lauren (148th, 21:46), Catie (156th, 21:57), and Courtney (161th, 22:06).  The team finished 18th of 33 teams.

In the boys invitational race, Michael was the top Watauga finisher in 28th at 16:08, and followed by Matthew (91st, 16:59), Grant (92nd, 16:59), Josh (140th, 17:35), Price (168th, 17:58), John (210th, 18:49), and Daniel (211th, 18:50).  The team finished 20th of 33 teams

The JV races split into 9-10 and 11-12 races, and the girls were led by Lily (21:59), Emma Kate (22:45), Amanda (23:08), and Sage (23:10).  The boys were led by River (17:36), Sam (18:46), Jarrett (18:52), and Aiden (19:42).
